Psalms, Hymns, & Spiritual Songs: “Take My Life, and Let It Be”

Psalms, Hymns, & Spiritual Songs: “Take My Life, and Let It Be”In Ephesians 5:15-21, we are given directions on how to properly live as Christians. One of these is to sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart.

Each Monday, I share a song from history or present-day that present a high-view of God, praise Him, and teaches solid doctrine.

Take My Life, and Let It Be

by Frances Ridley Havergal (1874)

Take my life and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days;
Let them flow in endless praise,
Let them flow in endless praise.

Psalms, Hymns, & Spiritual Songs: “Take My Life, and Let It Be”Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for thee,
Swift and beautiful for thee.

Take my voice and let me sing
Always, only, for my King.
Take my lips and let them be
Filled with messages from thee,
Filled with messages from thee.

Take my silver and my gold;
Not a mite would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use
Every power as thou shalt choose,
Every power as thou shalt choose.

Take my will and make it thine;
It shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is thine own;
It shall be thy royal throne,
It shall be thy royal throne.

Take my love; my Lord, I pour
At thy feet its treasure store.
Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for thee,
Ever, only, all for thee.

  • Hello – I have visited your site a few times before and wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your posts on traditional Christian hymns. Thank you for sharing at the Favorite Things Blog Hop and Linky Party. I also have an online Christian women’s community as well as a monthly publication, RUBY magazine which is devoted to Christian women for whom their home and family is their primary ministry. If you are at all interested in visiting our site and taking a look at our magazine, please visit us at (our blog) or (our online community). Although we hold to the same theological and practical beliefs that you present here on your blog, our community mostly focuses on the daily lives of women, most of whom are believers, but we occasionally have unbelievers visit our community and we are honored to reach out to them with the Gospel. I hope to catch up with you again this coming week at the Favorite Things Blog Hop. Nina @ Vintage Mama’s Cottage and RUBY magazine and community

    PS one of our groups on the RUBY community website is devoted to Christian hymns and I try to find the history / personal stories behind the different hymns. I would love to share this post, or even a small part of it and link back here to your blog, with the members of our community. Let me know what you thing! Thanks, Nina
