In Ephesians 5:15-21, we are given directions on how to properly live as Christians. One of these is to sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart.
Each Monday, I share a song from history or present day that present a high view of God, praise Him, and teaches solid doctrine.
the great trials which your eyes saw and the signs and the wonders and the mighty hand and the outstretched arm by which the Lord your God brought you out. So shall the Lord your God do to all the peoples of whom you are afraid. (Deuteronomy 7:19)
“Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6)
O sing to the Lord a new song,
For He has done wonderful things,
His right hand and His holy arm have gained the victory for Him. (Psalm 98:1)
O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord,
Let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation.
Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving,
Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.
For the Lord is a great God
And a great King above all gods,
Come, let us worship and bow down,
Let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. (Psalm 95:1-3, 6)
We praise Thee, O God, Our Redeemer
by Julia C. Cory (1902)
We praise Thee, O God, our Redeemer, Creator,
In grateful devotion our tribute we bring.
We lay it before Thee; we kneel and adore Thee;
We bless Thy holy name, glad praises we sing.
We worship Thee, God of our fathers, we bless Thee;
Thro’ life’s storm and tempest our Guide hast Thou been.
When perils o’ertake us, Thou wilt not forsake us,
And with Thy help, O Lord, our battles we win.
With voices united our praises we offer,
To Thee, great Jehovah, glad anthems we raise.
Thy strong arm will guide us, our God is beside us,
To Thee, our great Redeemer, forever be praise!
