All Creatures of our God and King

Psalms, Hymns, & Spiritual Songs: “All Creatures of our God and King”

In Ephesians 5:15-21, we are given directions on how to properly live as Christians. One of these is to sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart.

Each Monday, I share a song from history or present day that present a high view of God, praise Him, and teaches solid doctrine.

All Creatures of our God and KingThe heavens are telling of the glory of God;
And their expanse is declaring the work of His hands.
Day to day pours forth speech,
And night to night reveals knowledge. (Psalm 19:1-2)

The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice;
Let the many islands be glad…
The heavens declare His righteousness,
And all the peoples have seen His glory. (Psalm 97:1, 6)

I will praise the name of God with song
And magnify Him with thanksgiving…
Let heaven and earth praise Him,
The seas and everything that moves in them. (Psalm 69:30, 34)

Shout joyfully to God, all the earth;
Sing the glory of His name;
Make His praise glorious.
Say to God, “How awesome are Your works!
Because of the greatness of Your power Your enemies will give feigned obedience to You.
“All the earth will worship You,
And will sing praises to You;
They will sing praises to Your name.”(Psalm 66:1-4)

All Creatures of our God and King

Author: St. Francis of Assisi (1225)
Paraphraser: William H. Draper

All Creatures of our God and KingAll creatures of our God and King,
lift up your voice and with us sing
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Thou burning sun with golden beam,
thou silver moon with softer gleam,
O praise Him, O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Thou rushing wind that art so strong,
ye clouds that sail in heav’n along,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Thou rising morn, in praise rejoice,
ye lights of ev’ning find a voice!
O praise Him, O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

And all ye men of tender heart,
forgiving others, take your part,
O sing ye! Alleluia!
Ye who long pain and sorrow bear,
praise God and on Him cast your care!
O praise Him, O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Let all things their Creator bless
and worship Him in humbleness,
O praise Him! Alleluia!
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,
and praise the Spirit, Three in One:
O praise Him, O praise Him!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

This video uses some of the same lines but has a few that are not included. They also end with the Doxology, the hymn I shared last week.
